Birch Bark Picture Frames and Mirrors
Jim Schreiner
Birch bark picture frames and mirrors have adorned Adirondack camps and cabins for centuries and were a favorite winter project for the guides to make. This is a great class for beginners with limited experience with woodworking and tools. You will select a frame and learn how to cut and fasten the Birch bark, twigs, and other natural objects to create your own “masterpiece”. Come see why this is one of our most popular classes. You'll be proud to hang this in your home!

Shades of Nature
Teresa Breuer
Once you learn how to create one of these magnificent lampshades you will feel like you’re out in the deep woods while you sit reading in your comfortable chair at night. The warmth and beauty of the light produced from the botanicals when the light is turned on is magical! This class is divided into two half-day sessions. The goal is to bring nature to life. You will create two lampshades using botanicals that can be found all around us in the Adirondacks, including cedar and ferns. These botanicals will be pressed, preserving their natural beauty. They can be admired only when the lamp is turned on and are hidden when the lamp is off. In addition to a shade, you will create two night-lights. All tools and materials will be provided - just bring your love for nature and some creativity.
