Quilt makers and quilt lovers will all enjoy this year’s
challenge! With the fun theme of “Where to ‘go’ in the Adirondacks” (think
outhouses?), the challenge will kick off with packets ready for 30 quilters on
Monday, Jan. 16, 2017. If you are interested in making a 12” X 12” square for the
challenge, you may pick up packets with fabrics and instructions on a first come,
first served basis on or after 1/16/17 at the school, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
Any quilter from out of the area who wishes to participate may call to make
arrangements to have a packet mailed to them. Quilt blocks must be returned to
the school by Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017. The viewing and judging reception will be
at the Folk School on the evening of March 24, 2017. The 30 squares will then be
assembled into a quilt that will remain on display at the school until it is raffled on
Dec. 2, 2017 at our annual Gifting the Adirondack event. Raffle tickets will be on
sale from March 24th until Dec. 2nd this year. Join the fun and take a chance on
winning a unique and wonderful quilt!! Novices and experienced quilters are all
welcome!! Proceeds from the Quilt Challenge will benefit the AFS Scholarship
AFS is thankful to our very busy and very talented instructor and champion
volunteer, Sandy Collins, for chairing this event and for lending her remarkable
talents to the making of the quilt.
