Make a Wee Lassie Canoe Seat

The original Wee Lassie is one of the most famous watercraft of the Adirondacks along with our guide boats.  In our Boats & Paddle category, you can now make a wood strip canoe similar to one of these fine canoes and now equip it with a hand caned seat to complete the package!  Don’t have a Wee Lassie, well this class will be just the thing to help you learn chair caning and get you started on repair of those chairs sitting up in the attic.  The Wee Lassie canoe seat can also be fitted to many other canoes and kayaks.  With some ingenuity, you could add some legs, cut the cross members shorter, and create a foot stool that will fit the rustic style of your camp or home decor.    

Dennis will guide you in all the steps to make a beautiful caned canoe seat starting with a pre-built drilled frame, and learn to do a 7-step cane seat.  A great class for beginners who always wanted to try caning.

Caned Contoured Canoe Seats

Want to set apart your canoe and make it a pleasure to paddle?  This class is for you.  Nothing complements the beautiful lines of a graceful canoe like seeing hand caned seats inside. In this class you will make your own set of comfortable contoured seats that will be enjoyed for years to come.  Everything is included from the premade curved frames to all the caning materials and tools.  Dennis will help you prepare the seat frames, teach you how to work with the cane and you will leave with a handsome set of canoe seats you’ll be proud of.  No prior caning experience is required.
