Square Foot & Raised Bed Gardening Combo
Patricia Goldberg & Peter Watts
In 2010 we had two similar classes that have now been combined into one gardeners delight! You will learn all about Square Foot Gardening & Raised Bed Gardening by two of our area gardening gurus. Square Foot Gardening is the practice of planning small but intensively planted gardens. Mel Bartholomew popularized the concept of Square Foot Gardening and wrote a book of the same name. The practice combines concepts from other organic gardening methods, including a strong focus on compost, closely planted raised beds and attention to a small, clearly defined area. Raised Bed Gardening also is high yield, space saving gardening that allows you to extend your season. Peter has developed means for not only horizontal but vertical gardening spaces as well. These Raised Bed Gardens, made to fit your space, are the ideal answer to maximizing your time, energy and results! With these two powerhouse instructors you will leave with tons of ideas and everything you will need to plant your own garden at home. So, come learn from the “pros” – watch nature do her work, and then come back during the summer to tend your garden & harvest your efforts. This is really great fun and not like the typical garden you might have tried in the past. It is particularly well suited for areas with poor soil, beginning gardeners or experts as well as a great way to get out in the sun and enjoy our Adirondacks too! So, come play in the dirt and get the tips and tricks you’ll need to enjoy a summer full of healthy and delicious vegetables and herbs.
