Adirondack Folk School – Volunteers Needed!

The Adirondack Folk School is a year round school and relies completely on volunteers to make it a success.  General and Program volunteers are greatly needed and appreciated.

General Volunteers – General volunteers help in many different areas of the Folk School.  Volunteers commit to a minimum of four volunteer shifts over the course of the year.  Some folks choose to come the same day each week, and other people use the flexibility of their volunteer position to accommodate other summer activities or vacations.  General volunteers may be asked to help insure that our outdoor classes remain pristine and litter free.  Answering phones and greeting guests is high on the priority list.  We can also use many hands in building, grounds and carpentry projects.  If there is a special skill you have, such as painting, carpentry, rebuilding machinery, computer administration or  a special skill, we would greatly appreciate your help.

General Program Volunteers – Our programs and classes operate on scheduled days throughout each season and rely on assistance from volunteer support. Volunteers assist in helping instructors in preparing their classrooms and much more.  Special Saturday evening events and programs both around the campfire or slide presentations require smiling faces and helpful hands in order to make them a success. Program coverage runs in morning and afternoon shifts, from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. The minimum age requirement for woodworking assistants is 18 years old.
