Tinsmithing for Beginners

by jimmandle

Talk about a great class!

Director Jim was lucky enough to get a “sneak preview” of the upcoming class that will be taught by Walt Fleming at the Adirondack Folk School (Tinsmithing for Beginners on three days in July. July 2, July 6 and July 9) These one-day classes are limited to only 4 students. The instructor, is a master tinsmith with years of experience and patience. Not only will the students leave with a beautiful candle holder and sconce, but a wonderful education into the history of tinsmithing in early American. Walt’s shop, where the classes are taught in Ballston Lake, are filled with every conceivable piece of tinware that he has made or collected. A museum in itself and worth the tuition.

This is a class for anyone with no experience required.

  2. Thank you for another informative web site. Where else could I get that kind of information written in such an ideal way? I have a project that I’m just now working on, and I have been on the look out for such information.

Please check back on our website from time to time starting early January. If you’d like a hard copy send us your postal address if we don’t already have it and we’ll make sure you get a copy.

We have them every year. Look online by the end of November and we should have many of our 2014 classes listed, with more to follow into December. I do know that two tinsmithing classes will be offered in February.
