Barnes & Noble Book Fair

Saturday, November 10th, we will be at the Barnes & Noble on Route 50 in Saratoga Springs for our annual Book Fair! Pick up a voucher at the AFS table and hand it in when you pay at the register. Every purchase made in the store that day, from 10 am until 4 pm (with the exception of gift cards) will count towards a percentage of sales that is given back to the Folk School. This is a wonderful opportunity to beat the crowds, and get some of your holiday shopping done early! If you can’t make it to the store that day, our online number, where purchases will count towards our total from Nov. 11- Nov. 15 is #12421756.

Make It and Take It Holiday Gift Making

This year the Folk School is participating in the town of Luzerne’s craft walk and tree lighting, on Saturday, December 1st, by presenting our first ever “Make It and Take It” family event. Children (and parents) of all ages will be able to buy a “ticket” allowing them to make from one to six items at $5.00 each, as gifts for parents, siblings, grandparents or friends.

The items available to make will be pine cone fire starters, tin can luminaries, felted napkin rings, a nature-decorated frame, potato-stamped note cards, and lip balm. Each item will have an instructor and helpers, and all materials will be provided. Each round of instruction will last approximately 30-45 minutes, and the event will be held from 10 am until 3 pm. Gift bags will be included for all items. Cookies, cider and cocoa will be served, and children over the age of 10 may stay at the school while parents shop at other venues.

Tickets can be purchased ahead of time by calling the school at 518-696-2400, or on the day of the event.

Adirondack Christkindlmarkt

Food, music, dancing, craft and gift vendors, and fun will abound! Local hotels and restaurants will be opened and ready to accommodate all guests! Call the school for recommendations, and don’t miss this inaugural event in our local “Alps”!
