Meet The Board

The following are the members of the Board of Trustees for Adirondack Folk School, a §501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization registered in New York State:

Ginny Franzen, President – B.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology; teacher of the deaf for 35 years; manager and support teacher for children with cochlear implants.

Karen Goldberg, Vice President – M.A. in mathematics, Harvard; retired mathematics teacher; current President of the Quilting Guild.

David Riihimaki, Treasurer  – M.A. in philosophy; Vice President, Corporate Banking Officer for Glens Falls National Bank, NA (GFNB).

John Cerveny, Secretary – BS Industrial Engineering, MBA Product Development from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; started and helped grow numerous clean energy technology businesses. Currently working on advanced batteries with NY-BEST and providing consulting services through New Energy Resources, LLC.

Stephen Fisk, Board Member –

Patricia Goldberg, Board Member – Patricia worked as a mainframe computer programmer and owned her own consulting company for 25 years, where NYS Department of Taxation and Finance was among clients.

John Kingsley, Board Member – woodworking instructor with 40 years’ experience; Senior Consultant for N.T.T. Data, with 30 years’ experience in global I.T. services; Current Fiske Fund Chair of Northeast Woodworkers Association; past President of Adirondack Woodturners Association.

Frank Lagace, Board Member – owner and President of Paradise Tree Service and Other Side of Paradise Landscaping and Garden Center for 43 years; Executive of the Board of Directors for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rennselaer County for six years; lobbied in Washington DC for grant funding for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at Cornell University.

Jim Schreiner, Board Member – Master-level woodworker; former National Team Kayak racer; expert instructor and owner of Great Sacandaga Designs.

Barbara Shea, Board Member – M.B.A & M.B.A in Banking; Barbara comes to the Adirondack Folk School having recently retired from a prestigious career in banking and an extensive background serving in leadership roles for many non-profit boards throughout her career.

Kendall McKernon, Board Member – B.A. in Interior Design, Pratt Institute; Kendall has a 40+ year design career with commercial and residential projects primarily in upstate New York and New England. Currently also specializing in photography and promotion, Kendall is owner of The McKernon Gallery in Hudson Falls, NY.

Tanya Tobias-Tomis, Board Member – B.F.A. in Art History, U Albany, Masters degree in Arts Administration and Museum Education, Skidmore College; Tanya has been an Americans for the Arts Emerging Leader Award Panelist, as well as an exhibition juror and guest speaker for many local and regional arts organizations. Since 2011, Tanya has worked with the Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council’s Latino Advocacy Program.
